Everyone including Sharapova knows that today is Big B’s 78th birthday. Indian George Clooney, if you will. Sir Bachchan’s only bad performance till date is ABCL.
Oh wait, what did you think? Abhishek Bachchan? No. In his case, Big B’s performance was good, it’s just that they lost the match.
But facts apart, we, the team of CG, rummaged through his movies to recollect the best scenes from all the Big B movies. We are playing the role of Zee Cinema and providing you with ‘Shanivaar ki raat, Amitabh ke saath.’
Big B’s Best Movie Scenes
Here are the best movie scenes of Amitabh Bacchan…
1) “Aaj bhi mein phenke huye paise nahi uthata..”
Every time someone threw a coin at me, or kept the money on the table instead of giving it in my hand, I said this dialogue. This scene is from the movie Deewar which of course, like any other of his film was a gem.
2) “English is a very phunny language..”
This very scene is from the movie Namakhalal where Amitabh goes for an interview and he walked into the office in English. Err..what?
To know more, watch this.
3) “Naam – Vijay Deenanath Chauhan. Baap ka naam – Deenanath Chauhan. Gaon – Mandva.”
This must-have rung a bell twice. Even when they remade this movie, they kept this dialogue from the original movie. Won’t be surprised if you call him Indian James Bond as well. Or as Big B would put it, “Vijay. Vijay Deenanath Chauhan.”
The scene is from the movie Agneepath.
4) “Daaru piney se, liver kharab ho jaata hai. Idhar *points to liver*.”
I’d call it dialogue-ception. He keeps repeating the same dialogue again and again, but you would never get bored of seeing the same scene again and again. His sheer timing and flawless acting are impeccable. This scene is from the movie Satte pe Satta which depicts the lives of people in a Hostel.
5) Tereko kitni baar bola daaru mat pi, mat pi, mat pi.
I remember watching this movie Amar, Akbar, Anthony on a VCD player with dad and laughing my guts out when this scene played. The way Amitabh talks to the mirror does the dressing on it instead of himself, yells at the mirror when his reflection moves are super hilarious. I don’t think anyone else could have made this scene look this funny.
6) Yeh police station hai tumhare baap ka ghar nahin.
Who doesn’t remember this dialogue from the movie Zanjeer? This was Amitabh’s first hit movie after acting in 7 back to back flop movies. This movie played a key role in his personal life too. He met his wife on the sets of Zanjeer. The movie is full of epic dialogues and scenes, but this one is the highlight of it.
7) Yeh Seth Talwar ki naak hai, seth talwar ki naak.
Another super funny scene from the movie Namak Halaal. Big B creates havoc in this scene just to catch a fly and kill it as his master hates flies. The scene begins with how everyone imitates Shashi Kapur as Bib B asks them to. There is not a single moment in this scene that’s not funny.
8) Yeh kaisa yantra hai? Ladki jawan hoke andar gayi, buddhi ho ke bahar aayi.
In this movie Yaarana, Amitabh visits a city for the first time in his life. When he is waiting for his friend, he sees that 2 people enter the lift and two exist. Coincidentally young ones enter and old ones come out and they are wearing the same color clothes. What happens next, watch this scene and laugh.
9) Ladka heera hai heera.
Sholay made this dialogue popular. Another epic movie with epic dialogues and scenes and a lot of funny moments and action scenes. But when you talk about Big B, the above dialogue and “tumhara naam kya hai basanti” are the ones that come to your mind. In the video, when Amitabh goes to Basanti’s maushi for Veeru’s rishta, what he says will make you laugh.
10) Isse kehte hai garam kutta, yaani hot dog.
Yet another blockbuster Lawaris. Yet another funny scene. Even in his action movies, Big B always delivered funny scenes that you would always remember and talk about after watching the movie. In this scene, how he feeds green chili to a puppy and creates havoc in the restaurant. Dog lovers, please don’t file a petition against him. No dog was harmed while shooting this scene.
11) Mucche ho to Naththulal ji jaisi ho varna na ho.
The post must end with a scene that’s still remembered whenever we spot someone with a mustache. Mukri was the center of attraction in this scene with a mustache, and Big B made it epic by his dialogue delivery.
These are some of the scenes I am always going to remember. Each scene, each dialogue I must have watched at least ten times. Every time someone talks about how brilliant Amitabh Bachchan has been, these movies have always been mentioned.
They are timeless, a class apart, and will always be there in the list of best Bollywood movies of all time. This compilation is, but a very small tribute to the living legend of Indian Cinema.
Happy birthday Big B.
