If you don’t know him, close this window and go watch your Vampire saas-bahu shit again. You don’t deserve to be here.
We remember him for his epic roles in movies like – Philadelphia, Saving Private Ryan, The Green Mile, Castaway, Forrest Gump, and the likes.
TH is basically the god of modern western cinema. Not many would argue with that. He’s got to be one of the coolest actors ever, right?
And for the Rs.100 cr club fans, as of 2012, his movies have grossed over $4 billion domestically and 8.5 billion bucks worldwide, but that’s not the only reason why we love him.
Happy Birthday Mr. Tom Hanks!
Today, on the 9th of July, he celebrates his 57th birthday we take a look at 5 reasons why Tom Hanks is absolutely the best!
1. He is Quirky!

Tom Hanks is OBSESSED with typewriters! Yeah, you heard it right. He loves to collect typewriters and doesn’t mind spending a fortune to ship them from all over the world.
He reportedly has over 100 different typewriters in his collection. In his own words – “(I collect them) from the 1930s until they stopped making them”
And oh! If you want to get him on a podcast, just bribe him with a typewriter.
Comedian and ‘Nerdist’ founder Chris Hardwick got Tom Hanks to guest star on his podcast by bribing him with a vintage typewriter.
2. He’s the Happiest, Coolest, Most Adorable Dad in the World.

He once did a segment on Jimmy Kimmel’s show about toddlers and tiara’s and here’s the result. Guys, put down any beverages that you might be holding. You may spill that drink!

3. His Name is Written on the Stars.
Well not exactly, but he does have an asteroid named after him.
Tom Hanks is a space fanatic and he wanted to be an astronaut as a child.
His dream came true when Ron Howard picked him to play the role of Jim Lovell in Apollo 13 replacing Kevin Costner who was the original choice for the role.
He also co-produced the mini-series ‘From the Earth to the Moon’ and a feature, ‘Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon in 3D’.
Oh! and did we mention that he’s a part of the National Space Society Board of Directors? So yeah, it makes perfect sense to have an asteroid “12818 tomhanks” named after him.
4. He’s the Superstar Santa Clause for his Fans!

When a teenage fan chanced upon Tom Hanks at a restaurant, he asked Tom to pose for a few photos.
The guy stole Tom’s glasses and pretended to be wasted. And Mr. Hanks being the sweet sweet man that he is, gladly played along.
5. He is a Die-Hard Trekkie Fan.
Tom Hanks is a huge fan of “Star Trek.” In fact, he had to turn down the role of “Zefram Cochrane” in “Star Trek: First Contact” (1996), as he had already signed to play in “That Thing You Do!”
Well, don’t you think he’s absolutely fabulous?
Here’s wishing him a very happy birthday and may he continue to entertain us for years and years to come.
